This blog is about my experiences as a leader of Girl Guides in Victoria, Australia.

Hello! I’m a Guider from Canada and I just came across your blog and I find it quite interesting. I’m with a Guide group–we have 28 girls ages 9-11. I can’t imagine programming for such a diverse age group as you have!

I look forward to following your blog, and stealing your ideas! 🙂

Hi Cat, welcome! Hope you find lots to steal 🙂

Hi, I’m also a leader from Canada!! I was wondering if there’s any way that I can get a copy of your Guide Handbook and/or the Brownie one as well.

Hi Michelle! In Australia, all ages are “Guides” these days, so no Brownie books available. You should be able to get the handbooks from the Girl Guides NSW online shop, I’m pretty sure they ship internationally! There are 5 books, one for 5-7 year olds, one for 7-9s, 9-12s, 12-14s, and 14-17s. The 9-12s one is pretty excellent, it has very good instructions on setting campfires 🙂

Hiya. I was a Brownie and a Guide and now my daughter is a Brownie. I’m falling in love with the movement all over again. I love your blog!

    Aww, thank you 🙂
Blogging about Guiding is nowhere near as fun as actually doing it through! 🙂

  9. I am the Awards Chair for E-Guiding and would like to contact you personally.

  10. I enjoy reading your posts. I run a Guide Company in South Africa and we are really struggling. I will be down to three Guides next year as the older ones leave and we don’t have a Brownie Pack to feed us. In the last month or two a mother has come forward who is keen to start a Brownie Pack. I am going to do what you seem to do, run Guides 10-14) and Brownies (7-10) at the same time and sort of co-ordinated. Thanks for the idea and the inspiration. My Guide blog is greyfuzzypanda.blogspot.com but is mostly photos for the parents benefit.

Fantastic! And yep, we pretty much run as a Brownies/Guides group. Back when the blog started that was even more the case – I think we had about 16 kids then, and ran cross-age patrols. Just be sure to keep a couple of special privileges for the older girls – gives them a bit of a glow, and gives your littlies a reason to stick around 🙂
